Description
Historical Bed and Breakfast Overlooking Harbor
Inn By The Bay resembles a big red farmhouse, but instead of standing in the middle of a wheat field it’s pressed up against the shore of Dildo Harbour on Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula. The inn has been a fixture in town for generations—it was built in 1888.
Its seven rooms feature ocean views and en suite bathrooms. Each has been individually decorated with European, American, and local antiques. The Reid Room features a double bed with a blue-and-white, diamond-patterned bedspread, a wrought-iron bed frame, and an antique nightstand. Recent renovations gave rooms WiFi and cable TVs.
Each morning, a complimentary, cooked-to-order breakfast is served in the oceanfront dining room. As you dive into fresh eggs, you can spy fishermen as they depart for their day’s work—a picturesque scene framed by the dining room’s big picture windows. Some days, whales breach the surface of the water to recommend a pastry. Each evening, the inn’s chefs prepare a four-course prix fixe dinner at the Sea Level Dining Room (C$45/person). You can apply the C$25 voucher included with this Groupon towards the price of your meal. Reservations are required.

A traditional Newfoundland outport, the town of Dildo is steeped in fishing culture. It’s located on the Avalon Peninsula, about 60 miles (100 km) from St. John’s, the province’s capital and largest city. A drive along the peninsula’s shoreline reveals craggy bluffs and a fleet of fishing vessels. Visit the Inn By The Bay’s blog to keep tabs on all the local happenings.
